How did we end up finding, what we think is the go to list for the best turkey tail mushroom supplement for dogs?
Well… when our dog’s health started slipping we spent months searching for natural ways to support his immune system and digestion, he had multiple lumps and bumps which wouldn’t go, to the point where the vet was considering surgery. Being a veterinary nurse myself, i’d rather use that as a last resort… Turkey tail mushroom kept coming up in vet articles and research. But here’s the problem: there are dozens of brands, each claiming to be the best.
So we did what any caring (and slightly obsessive) dog owners would do: we bought them, tried them, and tested what worked on our own picky eater. No sponsorships, no free samples — just our honest experience.
Here’s what we found.

Out of everything we tested, Milo Naturals worked the best for our own dog:

- ❌ Higher priced that many others due to its extensive testing, paying a little extra for peace of mind for you and your dog.
Our experience: Within around 3 months (90 days), our dog’s lumps were getting smaller, digestion steadier, and he had more energy. The bacon flavour meant no food battles (this can be chaos sometimes as you guys probably know, especially with turkey tail mushroom)

Another strong product that we tested:
- ✅ 3rd party tested
- ✅ 50% active beta glucans (verified, we checked)
- ✅ Over 100 servings (small dog)
- ❌ No flavouring (our dog often turned his nose up, when really hungry he did though…thankfully)
- ❌ No probiotics included
Our experience: Excellent on paper, but since our dog is fussy, it wasn’t practical for us, we do respect the team at four leaf rover for their testing, its refreshing to see both Four Leaf and Milo Naturals take this seriously! 3. Petsmont Buddygaurd Review
This one gave us mixed feelings:
- ✅ 37% Beta Glucan Content
- ✅ 0.5g scoop, your dog doesnt need a lot.
- ❌ No evidence of 3rd party tests provided despite repeated requests via email, please reach out via turkeytailmushroomfordogs@gmail.com to provide these.
- ❌ Mushroom blend, when it comes to lumps and bumps and immunity, they are better of forgetting the other mushrooms and focusing strictly on turkey tail, often mushroom blends are more to sound good for marketing, but the effectiveness comes from the turkey tail mushroom and it’s more for your dog to process.
- ❌ No added natural flavouring for palatability.
Our experience: Popular? Yes. Worth it? There’s better out there.
4th. Fifth and Fido Turkey Tail Review
This one also gave us mixed feelings:
- ✅ Bacon flavouring (our dog ate it fine)
- ✅ 100 Servings (small dog)
- ❌ No evidence of 3rd party tests provided despite repeated requests via email, please reach out via turkeytailmushroomfordogs@gmail.com to provide these.
- ❌ 1g per scoop for small dogs – you want a turkey tail mushroom high in beta glucans so you don’t have to have as much turkey tail mushroom on the food due to taste/texture.
- ❌ Uses a weaker probiotic strain than others (Less robust)
Our experience: Our dog liked the taste, but the lack of transparency made us cautious.
🚫 4. Lumiquor Review Turkey Tail Mushroom (Avoid)
We recommend steering clear:
❌ No 3rd party tests
❌ False claims on their website
❌ Rip off from Fifth & Fido
For your dog’s safety, we wouldn’t touch this brand, even though its a lot cheaper, PAY FOR QUALITY.
Our Honest Conclusion
After trying the top brands ourselves, Milo Naturals was the only one that ticked every box and worked for our picky eater.
✅ UK & USA 3rd party tested
✅ High, verified beta glucans
✅ Added probiotic support
✅ Actually palatable for fussy dogs
That said:
- Four Leaf Rover is still a respectable option if your dog isn’t fussy, and are a great brand.
- Fifth and Fido might be okay if they start providing test results, but be hesitant.
- Lumiquor should be avoided altogether.
